  Economic Calendars

Week of March 11, 2001
The futures market is pricing in a 75% chance of an unheard of rate cut of 75 basis points on Tuesday. Will anything less placate investors? Other issues that could make or break market direction are the earnings results from tech heavyweights such as Red Hat, Micron Tech, and 3Com.

Week of March 11, 2001
With triple-witching expiration next Friday, we can expect some added volatility, especially with the PPI report on the same day. Traders will be watching Wednesday's Business Inventories to gauge how much extra supply is in the economy. Friday also will have Industrial Production released. Then, the following Tuesday will be the long-awaited FOMC meeting.

Week of March 04, 2001
Consumer confidence is down, spending is up. Wednesday's consumer credit report will reveal if this is still holding true during the economic slowdown. Additionally, watch next week's employment situation report and the revised productivity numbers.

Week of February 25, 2001
Next week's slew of economic forces may help gel market direction and rumors of rate cuts. Greenspan has a final Feb. appearance before the House Financial Committee on Wed, and the price deflator factor of Thursday's Personal Income report could either assuage anxiety over inflation or stir fears of stagflation.

Week of February 19, 2001
Attracting significant attention next week, will be Wednesday's Consumer Price Index. And if you're looking for a sign that the economy is in fact recuperating, the index of Leading Indicators, scheduled for Thursday, is expected to rise for the first time in three months. Markets closed Monday for Presidents Day.

Week of February 12, 2001
Next week will have Greenspan in the limelight with his semiannual monetary policy report. Also, stay alert for Dell's earnings on Thursday and the PPI report due out on Friday.

Week of February 05, 2001
After last week's mixed jobs report, traders will be anxiously awaiting Thursday's Initial Jobless Claims number to give an indication of when we can expect the next rate cut. Also on Thursday we will see if retailers are actually doing as well as their stock prices are indicating, when Chain Store sales figures for January are released.

Week of January 29, 2001
Wednesday's Fed meeting and the GDP release will undoubtedly take center stage next week, but other notable market movers will be Thursday's NAPM index and Friday's factory order and unemployment reports. Corporate earnings will continue to roll in; watch for the likes of NOK, AMZN, T and XRX.

Week of January 22, 2001
The market is looking for news! Some big names are scheduled to report earnings next week, plus look for results of the Initial Claims report on Thursday.

Week of January 15, 2001
Next week's events could hold some positive surprises; however, between the potential of a slower Fed policy and the likelihood of more sour earnings numbers next week, investors should anticipate continued turbulence.

Week of January 08, 2001
Investors are hoping that Initial Jobless Claims, December Retail Sales figures, and the Producer Price Index will reaffirm a ho-hum Holiday season that requires an additional Fed rate cut.

Week of January 01, 2001
Investors are hoping for a happier new year, but with the Unemployment Rate forecasted higher, New Home Sales anticipated lower, and Construction Spending for November slowing, we may have to wait for Mr. Greenspan.

Week of December 25, 2000
Tuesday's release of Existing Home Sales numbers may reinforce current sentiment regarding the likelihood of a FED rate cut in January. Investors will be keeping an eye on the rest of the week's economic reports as well, as we look for direction in the coming New Year.

Week of December 18, 2000
The market awaits Tuesday's Fed meeting and expects a shift to a Neutral bias. Final GDP and the Chain Deflator for Q3 on Thursday will give the market an idea of the economy's condition. Friday's PCE report will be watched closely to see how the consumer is reacting to the slowing economy.

Week of December 11, 2000
Traders are hoping for a shift to a neutral bias from the FOMC on December 19, but next week's economic reports will be all telling. Among other reports, we've got the Retail Sales numbers on Wednesday and the Consumer and Producer Prices Indices to be released Thursday and Friday.

Week of December 04, 2000
Investors are hoping that Initial Jobless Claims, December Retail Sales figures, and the Producer Price Index will reaffirm a ho-hum Holiday season that requires an additional Fed rate cut.
